Abstract
The aim of the study is to obtain a thorough national picture of the extent and nature of the problem of forced marriage, marital captivity and abandonment in the Netherlands. A combination of both quantitative and qualitative research methods (for interviews and case studies) has been used. The research is conducted by three parties: the St. Femmes for Freedom, Maastricht University and the Verwey-Jonker Institute.
