Polina Palash presents research in Quito and Barcelona

From 26-28 August 2015 the III Latin American and Caribbean Conference was held at the University of FLACSO in Quito, Ecuador. The purpose of the Conference was to reflect on contemporary topics related to social sciences in the Latin American region.
TRANSMIC PhD researcher Polina Palash participated in the panel on “Migration, crisis and social protection: transnational practices and the State”. She presented her research project on the issue of transnational social protection of Ecuadorian families, illustrating the methodological and theoretical framework and sharing a debate with the international academic community. The panel was shared with Christian Schramm, Verónica Redrobán and Daniela Paredes, Virginie Baby-Collin (PhD supervisor) and Geneviève Cortes.
After the FLACSO event, Polina contributed to the compilation of the Bulletin de l’Institut Français d’Études Andins as well as to the editing of the book review of FLACSO researcher Gioconda Herrera, the volume “Familias Transnacionales, Cuidados y Desigualdad Social en Ecuador”.
TRANSMIC research related to the social protection of Latin American migrants in Europe was also presented at the Universitad Autònoma de Barcelona. One of the presentations was held in November 2015 in the Department of Sociology with the Group of Research on Inmigration and Ethnic Minorities and another presentation was realised in February 2016 in the Department of Geography of the Universitad Autònoma de Barcelona, during the 14th GRM Annual Series on Migration .
