Clotilde Mahé, TRANSMIC PhD researcher, presented some of her work in progress, jointly with Tilman Brück (ISDC) and Wim Naudé (Maastricht University, IZA and MSM), ‘Return migration and self-employment dynamics: Empirical evidence from Kyrgyzstan’ at the inaugural Asian and Australasian Society of Labour Economics (AASLE) Conference, in Canberra, Australia, December 7-9, 2017.

Hosted by the Australian National University Research School of Economics, the AASLE has recently been founded to promote research and cooperation in Labour and Applied Economics across Asia and Australasia. Keynote speakers included David Card (UC Berkeley), Swati Dhingra (London School of Economics), Edward Lazear (Stanford University), Thomas Lemieux (Vancouver School of Economics), Justin Yifu Lin (Peking University), Stephen Machin (London School of Economics) and Yasuyuki Sawada (Asian Development Bank).
